Description
Rugby had one of the most romantic births of any sport. Not content with starting life as a full blown, planned event it took a young man called William Webb Ellis to decide in 1823 that instead of kicking the football he would pick it up and run with it.

From that day at Rugby School a new sport took its place in our heritage. A sport that would be unjoyed by more than 100 nations across the globe.

Since 1823 Rugby Union has enjoyed revolution after revolution, from its break from Rugby League to its move to professionalism and the advent of the Six Nations Championship.

The game has produced some of sport's most famous players from Gareth Edwards and Barry John to Bill Beaumont, Will Carling and the current superstar, Jonny Wilkinson. It has also produced two of the most famous international teams, The British and Irish Lions, particularly the teams of 1971 and 1974, and the world renowned Barbarians who ran from their own try line in 1973 to score the most famous try the game has ever seen.

This DVD takes you through the entire history of rugby from its birth right through to the resurgent England team of the New Millennium who beat Australia, New Zealand and South Africa before winning the 2003 Grand Slam.

Interspersed with interviews with the biggest names in the game and all the best tries, this programme tells the complete story that is the great game of rugby.

This programme is an updated version of 'Century of Rugby' and 'Story of Rugby'.

Important Information on PAL Region 0 DVD compatibility.
PAL Region 0 is now the most popular format sold by Green Umbrella. It ignores the original Region Coding designed for DVDs. If you own a multi-region DVD player (i.e. one which will play any Region of DVD) AND a television which can receive the PAL signal then this DVD will function correctly.

To the best of our knowledge (although we accept no responsibility for the accuracy of this information, and would thoroughly recommend that if you are in any doubt you consult your electrical retailer for advice before making a purchase) this PAL Region 0 DVD is designed to function in the following PAL TV countries:

Abu Dhabi, Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Ascension Island, Australia, Austria, Azores, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Botswana, Brunei, Cameroon, Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Cayman Islands, China (Peoples Republic), Christmas Island, Cook Island, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dubai, Easter Island, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Gambia, Gaza & West Bank, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Holland, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macao, Macedonia, Madeira, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Montenegro, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norfolk Island, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Sardinia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Tonga, Tristian Da Cunah, Turkey, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, UNITED KINGDOM, Vanuatu, Vatican City State, Yemen, Yugoslavia, Zambia, Zanzibar, and Zimbabwe.

NB. This DVD will NOT work in NTSC TV regions (such as United States & Canada) unless your DVD player can play Region 0 DVD's (ie it is multi-region) AND your TV can receive the PAL signal. If you are in any doubt please consult your electrical retailer before making a purchase.

However, although we offer no guarantees, some of our customers in USA and Canada have successfully played these DVD's on their PC (not TV) equipment. Again, if you are in any doubt please consult your electrical retailer before making a purchase.
