Description
This sensational programme for Cherry-and-White fans brings you the highlights of the Powergen Cup victories against Exeter, Saracens and Leicester Tigers as well as every minute of the spectacular final against Northampton Saints in front of 75,000 spectators, coupled with post match interviews with the key players.

The road to Powergen Cup glory started back in December 2002 with a comfortable 35-6 victory over the Exeter Chiefs at Kingsholm handing Gloucester a home draw against Saracens. Coming a week after the 'disappointing' result in Limerick this was a sensational performance as try after try rained down on the hapless Sarries and Gloucester powered into the semi-finals and a game against Leicester at Franklin's Gardens. What a game! Ultimately it was two tries in 4 minutes, the first from Marcel Garvey and the second from the hugely impressive Thinus Delport that secured the 16-11 victory. But the game will be remembered for the dramatic and somewhat controversial circumstances as the Tigers tried to save the game in the dying minutes, throwing everything they had at the Gloucester defensive line. During those exchanges, Leicester actually crossed the line from a mighty forward drive, but no try was awarded with the ball buried under a pile of mixed jerseys. Then, with the clock ticking down, Roncero went off injured and was replaced by hooker Chris Fortey, referee Steve Lander ruling that subsequent scrums would be uncontested for safety reasons. With Leicester camped on the Gloucester line this certainly did them no favours!

And so to sun-kissed Twickenham and a sensational game of rugby. The lead changed hands six times in the first half, Northampton eventually leading 22-20 at the break. But that was that as far as they were concerned and Gloucester moved into top gear in sparkling fashion. The game featured four tries, two for Simpson-Daniel and one each from Garvey and the exceptional James Forrester with the man-of-the-match Ludovic Mercier completing the points with four conversions, three penalties and a drop-goal. It was a mighty performance from a mighty team as Gloucester's greatest ever season continued. Footage courtesy of the BBC and RFU.
