Description
The Official film of the 1979 Open.

This film graphically and dramatically portrays the golf championship that for millions turned the image of golf from one of sombre technique into that of a great adventure.

Trans World International's expert camera crews, with commentators Peter Alliss and Renton Laidlaw, report the incredible scenes as Severiano Ballesteros, the 22 year old Spaniard, becomes the first continental European to win the championship since 1907, and the youngest winner this century! The means of his victory is cavalier and audacious: he continually misses fairways and triumphs through brilliant recovery shots and putting.

Jack Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Watson, Hale Irwin, Australia's Rodger Davis and others threaten to win, but this unique film shows how Ballesteros overcomes them all. The film shows holes and crucial moments in the championship which did not appear on television: notably the dramatic disasters of Crenshaw which turned the championship at the historic 17th hole at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
