Description
The Official film of the 1991 Open.
This video recalls the accomplished two-stroke victory at Royal Birkdale of Ian Baker-Finch, the popular Australian whose quiet demeanour belied the strong resolve born of defeat in the 1984 Open at St Andrews, which he led in the final stages.
That year, Baker-Finch endured a final round of 79 to watch the dream of his first Major victory crumble before his eyes. Now, wiser and stronger, he can be seen shooting a near flawless final round of 66, hitting only two wayward shots at the tenth and eighteenth holes to leave compatriot Mike Harwood with little hope of catching him.
With the best of the golf from the preceding rounds, including the early challenge of Severiano Ballesteros, and revealing insights into the professional lives of top players like Payne Stewart, Nick Faldo and Ian Woosnam, the official film of the Open Golf Championship is once again the event's definitive record.
