Description
The official film of the 2001 Open Championship.
David Duval made off with the Claret Jug when he scored a 67 in the final round to see off a cluster of close contenders - Niclas Fasth, Ernie Els, Darren Clarke, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Billy Mayfair and Bernard Langer - and finish with a 10-under-par tally of 274.
However, our hearts bled for Ian Woosnam whose hopes of winning his first Open were dashed after one hole of the final round when he was given a two-shot penalty for having too many clubs in his bag. The error by his caddie, Miles Byrne, also cost the Woosnam more than 200,000 in prize money as he finished tied for third.
Another big British disappointment was the fading form of Colin Montgomerie who led the Championship over the first two days only to again miss out on a Major with a lacklustre finish.
