The Bell's Scotch Ryder Cup was back in European hands after an absence of 28 years. Tony Jacklin's Europeans beat Lee Trevino's Americans 16.5 - 11.5 to win the coveted golden trophy for only the fourth since the bi-annual contest began in 1927.
At The Belfry, in front of huge crowds and leading 9 - 7 going into the final 12 singles, victories by Manuel Pinero, Paul Way, Sandy Lyle, Bernhard Langer, Sam Torrance, Howard Clark and Jose-Maria Canizares made Sunday 15th September one of the most memorable days in the history of golf.
Taken from the original BBC film, introduced by Harry Carpenter, with commentary from Peter Alliss, Bruce Critchley, Clive Clark and Alex Hay.
