'The Story of the UFEA European Football Championships charts the history of the tournament. It chronicles the birth of the Championships, and provides action from all the championships from 1960 to the present day.

Throughout its history the European Championships has been graced by memorable performances. The star of the first was undoubtedly the Russian keeper Lev Yashin as the USSR beat Yugoslavia in the final. The West German team of the seventies were inspired by Muller and Beckenbauer and in the eighties there were memorable performances by a Platini led France and the Dutch, inspired by the mastery of Gullit and Van Basten. The nineties saw a surprise win for Denmark, a late replacement for Yugoslavia in the tournament and undoubtedly England's greatest display in 1996 with Shearer and Seaman at the peak of their international careers. France repeated their success of 1984 when they lifted the trophy for a second time adding the title to the World Crown they won two years previously.

This programme recalls each of the eleven tournaments focusing on action from all the crucial games throughout the European Championships' history and interviews key players from each championship including Zoff, Beckenbauer, Platini, Laudrup, Van Basten, Seaman and Trezeguet plus many more.
