Description
The Official DVD film of the 1984 Open.
There is always something special about the Open when it returns to St Andrews, the home of golf. The 1984 Championship is no exception. Played in glorious weather and in front of record crowds, the event throws up a classic ending.
Prominent in the action are the sensational unknown Ian Baker-Finch from Australia, Bernhard Langer the promising West German, American star Lanny Wadkins, the inevitable Tom Watson, defending his title, and Spain's Seve Ballesteros.
Not for the first time the infamous Road hole played a decisive role - and in a pulsating finish Ballesteros, wearing one of the biggest smiles ever seen on the 18th as his final putt just drops in, edges out Watson to take his second Open in Britain.
Narrator Fulton Mackay, commentator Peter Alliss.
